To disrespect the martyrs of the War of Liberation for not allowing the elections to be fair. We do not have democracy here, instead of independence we have accepted dictatorship. To protect democracy, sometimes we have to take risks, we have to take risks.
He made these remarks while addressing an unprecedented event on 10th January in 1972,’ the return home of Bangabandhu, organized by the Gano Forum at the National Press Club on Friday.Noting that he had the privilege of working with a leader like Bangabandhu. Kamal Hossain said that as long as he is in Bangladesh, people of Bengal will respect him. He has made the people of the country independent of Bangladesh.
He said in his signed document that the people of this country are the people. We have got independence today because of the extraordinary leadership like Bangabandhu so Violating the Constitution means disrespect to Bangabandhu : Dr. Kamal
He also said that Article 7 of the Constitution is written by the people of the country. In an independent country, there is no right to dictate. Bangabandhu has said that every people of this country can exercise their basic rights. He never compromised on wrongdoing. The constitution signed by Bangabandhu is kept in the National Museum of Bangladesh. Every school-college student should show this document. If this independent Bangladesh is deprived of democracy, voting rights and basic rights of the people, then Bangabandhu will be disobeyed.
Kamal Hossain said, “It is our misfortune that we lost Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a very short time. He should never be disobedient. Bangabandhu was respected and loved by not only the people of the country but people from different countries. We will all work together in unity to ensure that our Constitution and fundamental rights are kept in character.
